Sometimes, drugs and surgery are exactly what's needed.

Sinus Ninja isn’t saying drugs and surgery are never necessary. In fact, some people who make a first appointment with us never return. The Sinus Ninja Treatment™ simply isn’t for them. Maybe their disease is so far advanced that the treatment didn’t “work” for them. While in these cases it can sometimes take several treatments to see results, we respect any choice to seek drug and surgical options.

Deciding to medicate doesn't make you a bad person.

If you’re like us, you’d simply prefer to use the most natural and least toxic option first. And since most sinus problems are just troublesome and not life-threatening, you’ve got time to try alternatives. On rare occasions, we may even prescribe medications to use in concert with Sinus Ninja Treatments™. The goal, however, is to promote the right conditions so the nose and sinuses no longer need drugs and surgery

Bravo! You've decided surgery is the best option for you.

Naturopathic doctors (ND’s) are leaders in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). We’re also held to the same standards of diagnosis and treatment as MD’s (medical doctors)10. So, if we feel your condition would best be referred to an ear, nose, and throat surgeon we’ll tell you. Nasal polyps and advanced chronic ear plugging for example may best be treated surgically. That doesn’t mean we can’t at least try The Sinus Ninja Treatment™ first (possibly along with a judicious course of steroid medication) to see how you respond. The choice is up to you.

Gong! You've decided to give Sinus Ninja a try.

We couldn’t be happier. We just want what’s best for our clients. And from our 20 years of experience treating nose and sinus conditions just like yours, deciding to try The Sinus Ninja Treatment™ first most often ends in success for the majority of our clients.

Footnotes

  1. “There is increasing evidence that biofilms are involved in chronic infections, including chronic sinusitis.” ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5698538
  2. Resistance to antibiotics is on the rise, and it’s debatable if “trying and failing” on multiple courses can be considered “effective.” The Lancet. VOLUME 371, ISSUE 9616, P908-914, MARCH 15, 2008. Long term use of steroid medications are known to cause serious side effects and isn’t generally advisable. Prescriber’s Digital Reference (2020): Prednisone. In the short term, judicious use of steroids can assist the nose and sinus to heal themselves (see Footnote 5).
  3. Though patient satisfaction with endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) was “generally high” 10 years post surgery, “revision surgery rate was 17%.” That is, 17 out of 100 required additional surgeries. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31207172. Perhaps more importantly, surgery alters the natural architecture of the nose and sinuses which by its very nature starts from a point of loss. Unlike dentistry which removes undeniably diseased tissue (tooth decay), Sinus Ninja starts with the assumption that the structures of the nose and sinuses are normal and are more often than not reacting to abnormal conditions (biofilms, allergens, irritants, eosinophilia, and other rhinosinus toxicities).
  4. From a naturopathic perspective, a therapy or procedure is “effective” if it reduces obstacles to cure with the least amount of distress to natural structure and function. Our clients typically report immediate reduction of acute sinus pain and pressure and a notable reduction in frequency and severity of chronic recurrent sinusitis, nasal congestion, post nasal drip, colds and flus, and symptoms of seasonal allergy.
  5. When prescribed judiciously, antibiotics and steroid medications can create the right conditions for the nose and sinuses to heal themselves. In this sense, reducing pathogenic load and inflammation is acting “naturopathically” by removing obstacles to cure. At times, we will prescribe sinus medications as needed to augment the effectiveness of The Sinus Ninja Treatment™ So why not just use them exclusively? See Footnote 2.
  6. In cases of advanced disease, surgery can restore nose and sinus function with varying degrees of “success” (see Footnote 3). Sinus Ninja says, “invasive disease requires invasive measures.” The idea of course is to not let the nose and sinuses become invasively diseased in the first place. Regular Sinus Ninja Treatments™ create the right conditions which naturally lead to lasting nose and sinus health.
  7. Restoring the nose and sinuses to their natural state of health is where The Sinus Ninja Treatment™ shines.
  8. While we don’t often think of surgery as having “side effects,” the drugs given during and following surgery often do. Also, any surgical approach to altering tissue brings with it the potential for scaring. As the nose and sinuses are small and delicate, even a “small” amount of scar tissue can cause sizable problems. Scarring in Endoscopic Ethmoidectomy. Vol 8, Issue 6, 1994.
  9. Many drugs need to be “cleared” by the liver and excreted by the kidney. Recovery time here refers to the time it takes for this to happen. Recovery from antibiotic use includes restoration of the digestive tract after destruction of normal flora.
